MarvCares is looking for highly professional, experienced Personal Support Workers qualified to provide direct care to patients.

Qualifications:

• Valid First Aid & CPR
• Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA)
• Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV) proof of negative TB skint test within one (1) year 
• Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate
• Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Personal Support Worker Certificate is an asset
• Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is an asset 
• As a condition of employment, all hires will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation unless a valid accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code exists.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work independently, or as part of a team.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Shift Scheduling Requirements:
  • Must be available for “urgent or last minute” shifts, scheduled within 2 hours of shift start time.
  • Must be able to work the flexible shift times, depending on the facility; eight (8) or twelve (12) hours in length.
  • Must be able to ‘float’ from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need.
  • Must be available to work all shifts – days, evenings & nights – including weekdays, weekends & statutory holidays.
  • Required to work two (2) weekends per month.
• Must be reliable (once availability is given) to be placed at an agreed upon facility/unit.
• Must be in compliance with the MarvCares shift acceptance/cancellation policy (provided for review upon hiring).

Responsibilities May include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting patients with hygiene including washing/bathing/showering, perineal care, oral hygiene, dressing/undressing & grooming etc.
• Assisting patients with toileting activities including emptying bedpans, assisting patients to the toilet, incontinence care etc.
• Assisting patients with transferring, moving, positioning & turning
• Able to develop a therapeutic relationship with clients/patients to develop a supportive relationship that encourages independence 
• Assisting patients with mealtime activities
